WOOLSHED POTTERS
Our aim is to help encourage and advance the interests of potters and the art and craft of pottery.
We are a community pottery club located in the beautiful and peaceful grounds of the historic Gear Homestead or 'Okowai', built in 1882 by the pioneer business magnate, James Gear. The woolshed was originally built as the coach house and stables for the homestead and later became the woolshed. Over the years its condition deteriorated and it became very run down. The Woolshed was restored for use as an arts centre by the resident groups in the early 1980s. The Woolshed Potters were the first occupants, taking over the ground floor. Since then, the club has continued to thrive and is now made up of more than 50 members with a range of different pottery skills and interests.
